Homeland Security can lick my....

Mood: raving, Music: just the voices in my head...kill...kill....
Ah, the end of summer....can only mean one thing...Homeland Security fucks me over yet again! Last year, it took 7 months to get my Visa renewal, keeping me stuck in the US, killing my Christmas holidays with my daughter. Well, I should have taken the 5 month window of opportunity to go home for a visit, 'cuz they've done it AGAIN! My Visa is up at midnight, and it took them until 4 pm this afternoon to tell me "sorry, still pending". In the meantime, I have an extension, like last year, which keeps me legal to live and work in the US, but I cannot leave, as I won't be able to get back in.

Very tempted to head home, give the Gestapo, er, Homeland Security goons the finger on the way out...and working in a country that isn't so fucking messed up. I mean, I realize that as a Canadian, I am a security risk. After all, we've only been peaceful, at times submissive, neighbours for what, 190+ years, if you count the time between the War of 1812 and Canada's Confederation. I must be a real source of terror to someone. A White House full of criminals, liars and all....and I can't get a visa renewed, second year in a row. They only have a YEAR to process it.

Fuck them.

Another Christmas will likely go by with me stuck in this shitty city, alone. I had to cancel taking my 3 year old daughter home for Christmas last year, and now I may have to break her heart yet again. My heart, already well broken. I can't get these years back.

back to so-called civilization

Mood: apathetic, Music: the Jeapardy theme
Back from the mountains and camping with my peeps. An excellent break from the suckage of life, but it came with it's own probs. Too many underage drunks. Too little respect for other campers.

The Games themselves went well, only a half hour downpour on Sunday marred a great weekend for weather. That part of the weekend is a blur, as always. It's the evenings that stand out, lots of wandering from campfire to campfire, singing, schmoozing, drinking, eating....reconnecting with old friends, making new ones.

Music-wise, well, the weekend was rather weak. I heard better tunes at the campfires than most of the so-called pro bands performing at the Games. One standout, however, was a band called Barleyjuice. I heartily recommend them to anyone fond of good Irish/Scottish drinking songs.

Now comes the hassle of unpacking and clean up. Most of my gear gets mothballed until July next year, but I hope to change that and get out more.

Photos will be up whenever I get some sent my way, I didn't take a camera.

It is that time again. My favorite part of the year, my summer vacation if you will. I'm leaving today, driving up to the mountains of North Carolina, camping and working at the Highland Games (imagine the Scottish Olympics).

Pics to follow.

Pray for my liver.

Oh, and for the record, I did MY part for the planet...in order to leave a smaller carbon footprint, I turned the crap concerts on the tv off and listened to my walkman.

I just give and give.

It is comforting to see that Sting still sucks, however.

New pics in my gallery, in the Highlander folder, for those interested.

Slainte Mhath, y'all!

Well, Happy Hallmark Day, y'all.

Be good little capitalist sheep, spend, spend, spend!

and a thought, from the heart....

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, think of an excuse to make it go away again. If it doesn't, hit on her sister.

Or daughter, as is sometimes the case.

I never would have figured it out, if I had not an IQ slightly higher than a field mouse. Hmmm....Leilla spelled backwards....how crafty. Yawn. Someone needs a hobby.

In other words....
