Cheesecake Factory

Posted

Today I took the kids to the Galleria Mall in Buffalo while my wife went to a baby shower for a special someone on this site.  I was shocked at how well behaved the kids were!
The highlight of the day was definitely our trip to the the Cheesecake Factory for the first time ever.  I have a piece of Godiva chocolate cheesecake that was today for.  I don't think I've ever had anything quite so rich.  I also hit the Godiva chocolate store, lol.  I can't say enough about it.  I was never so tempted to buy everything in the store, lol.
Anyway, a good day and a nice start to the weekend.

My Dallas Cowboys are 3-0 and look better than they have in 10 years.  I can only pray they can keep this run going.

Return of the blog

Posted

Well I haven't posted here in a long time.  I really haven't had the inspiration.  I was getting low on inspiration so I quit coming.  Plus, a lot of the poeple I chatted with left the site.

So, what have I been up to?  I'm still working as a temp for my company.  No new job oppertunities for me.  Well, that's not completely true.  There was a job I could have had being an adjuster again, but I turned it down.  I had enough dealing with angry people over the past year to last me a lifetime, thank you very much.

We've been trying to do some stuff without a lot of money.  We took the 90 mile drive to go eat at the Melting Pot.  It was quite the experience but I don't see us doing it again any time soon.  We also bought a new grill, so I've been using it as often as possible.

I'm getting in a Christmas mood already and it's not quite October, lol.  I bought an inflatable snowglobe off ebay last week and I've added a little bit of Christmas music to my play lists.

I've also been listening to books on tape at work since I got tired of listening the the same music all day long.  I've listened to the last two Harry Potter books.  I listened to Bob Newhart.  I'm currently on book 4 of 7 in Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

This weekend we're driving up to New York as Kim is attending a baby shower for a friend of ours on this site.  She's very excited about it.  I'm going to take the kids to the Galleria Mall and shop for a few hours while she's doing that.  I wish I had more money for the trip, but it'll still be a fun day.

More to come, maybe!

Labor Day Weekend

Posted

This weekend didn't exactly go as planned, but it was ok.
My wife was sick and she seems to have passed that on to me and maybe her sister too, lol.
Anyway, that limited our getting out of the house, but I didn't finally pick up a router for our DSL so I can get online with my laptop.  I also got a grill on closeout at Target.  It only took me 5 hours to put the thing together.
Other than that, we didn't get to the do the outdoor stuff I wanted to this weekend, but I got a lot done around the house and I watched a lot of the Jerry Lewis Telethon today.
We also downloaded Puzzle Fighter off XBox live.  It's a fun 2 player game that can really kill a lot of time.
In the end, anything is better than work, lol.

Things look up

Posted

Well, our vehicle was inspected and it didn't need any work,, thank God!
Anyway, we also got a little shopping done and I picked up a new grill from Target.  I love end of summer sales.  I got it for about half price.
I can't wait for the weekend to get here.  I'm also just finishing up the new Harry Potter book.  Interesting story.  I'm curious to see what they do with it for the theatrical release.
Hope everyone enjoys the holiday!

Halloween

Do you have any interest in seeing Rob Zombie reimagine a classic?
Are you going to see his remake of Halloween?
I'm really undecided, but if anyone can pull it off, it's probably Zombie.

Don't know why

Posted

I've been having a lot of trouble with this site on my laptop.  Hopefully I can get it figured out so I can get back to my blog reading.
After a lot of thought, I finally gave in and signed up for Netflix this week.  I figure it'll give me a chance to watch some of the more obscure movies that I want to see but have no interest in buying.
I also have to get the van inspected this week and I'm really hoping it doesn't need anything.  I've barely been treading financial water as it is.
Short but sweet, Happy Hump Day to everyone tomorrow.

How far would you travel?

Posted

To meet someone you met online?
To try a new restaurant?
To see a sporting event/concert?

I want to go check out a restaurant I've seen a lot about called The Melting Pot.  The closest one to where I live is about 2 hours away.  There's really no other reason to go other than for the meal.  Can I justify four hours of driving for a one hour meal?
The kids also want to go see wrestling and that's going to be about a 2 hour drive as well.  Plus I just drove a good hour and a half about 10 days ago to take the kids to their first concert.
I'm sure a lot of people on here drive further than that on a regular basis, but I'm a home body.  I don't leave town without a good reason.  So can I justify the time and expense for these petty things?  I don't know yet.

Back to school

Posted

Ah yes, kids dread it, parents love it.  The kids go back to school tomorrow here.  Honestly, I have mixed feelings.  I wish I had the income to home school them.  I just don't put a lot of faith in the current school system.  Of course I'm also way too overprotective of a father, but there's just too much craziness out there nowdays.  I see kids 5-6 years old out running the streets by themselves and I just don't understand how parents can let their kids do that.  Well, back to the main topic.  I feel like it's the first day of school for me tomorrow.  New subjects and teachers and homework to deal with.  I was always nervous the first day back, but my kids have barely mentioned it.  Maybe it'll hit them tomorrow morning, I don't know.  I think I've thought more about it than they have.  It's just another day at work tomorrow for me.  I can't wait until I get home tomorrow to see how everything goes.
And next weekend is a holiday already, so that's good too.

I still love the 80's.

Posted

Unlike most of the people on this site, I grew up in the 80's.  Todays flashback involved renting TMNT or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I really enjoyed this update of the old cartoon.  The kids on the other hand got bored about half way through.  It seems everything I grew up with is being remade.  I don't think Transformers was anywhere near the blockbuster it was thought to be.  We also saw the Underdog movie barely register a blip on the radar too.  Up next will be shows like Get Smart and G.I. Joe among others.
Well at least I get to introduce more of the shows I grew up with to my kids.

I do not want or need a penis patch.
You aren't really going to give me a free Xbox or Ipod are you!
Why would you be shipping me something?  I'm sure I didn't order anything from you.
I'm pre-approved, you shouldn't have!
I can get a real Rolex for how much??
No, I don't want to make it larger.
I'm not buying prescription drugs online, sorry.
Sorry, I can't deposit any checks for you.
Of course I'd love to be richer.
No, my life hasn't been ruined by evil.  (I think)
I guess I'm not getting any younger.
