CD's of the moment.....

The Specials - "The Singles Collection" - Something old, something new. Something borrowed, something blue-beat.

Elvis Presley - "Tiger Man" -- '68 comeback. Sit down show. Nervous, edgy, surging. Presley finds his feet again and staves off irrelevancy. Scotty Moore says about four words....which only adds to his genius.

Chris Kenner - "Land Of A Thousand Dances" - The original found here. Church gone bayou.

Otis Redding - "Live In London & Paris" - With all due respect to both James Brown and the Stones, the greatest show on earth. Otis, Booker T. & The MG's, Memphis Horns. Nuff said.

Dinner of the moment - Mike's Hot Dogs. Killer sauce and an atmosphere that hasn't changed since I was a child. Stop in and you'll see everyone from bums to businessmen.

TV of the moment -- "Boogie Man: Lee Atwater" on PBS.

DVD of the moment - "Wonderfalls"

Book of the moment -- "Pretty Vacant: A History Of UK Punk" by Phil Strongman.

Dessert of the moment - Nonni's Toffee Almond Biscotti.

Have you ever had one of those conversations where you are so far apart on the subject you are talking about that it leaves you speechless?  I seem to be having an alarming amount of those lately.

Caddied a nine mile race for my brother this past weekend and was passed twice by running great Bill Rodgers. Cool. Seeing famous people in person is always a tad surreal. Fortunately, he was quite pleasant.
