the weekend

Mood: just great, Music: radio
ha! this weekend was quite good.
lots of action.

friday it started with a day off from work. went shopping for sunglasses for the whole family. that was fun.
then i went to a "turnfest" where we played on a little floorball tournament just for fun. because we never
trained for that. there were some teams who took this quite serious. so we lost all for matches.
i was the goalkeeper. :) ended up with blisters on my knees. because i'm just not used to it.

then friday night we watched the last group match of switzerland at the world cup on a big screen.
they won against south korea and qualified as group leader for the 1/8-finals.

saturday morning we had another competition at the "turnfest". i did shot put and "wurfkoerper". :)
i was not so pleased with my shot put result. i guess i need to train some more again.

then i went home because we were invited to a swiss-turkish wedding. that was just great. the first
part was traditional swiss. with a yodel-choir in the church and stuff like that.
my wife and a friend of hers (plus me as a background humming bass singer) surprised them with
"amazing grace".
the second part was turkish. a big room. 300 guests. loud music. lots of dancing. they know how to
party. :D

sunday was a quiet chill out day.

yesterday i had another day off and the swiss football (soccer for the us :) team played their first final
match at the world cup.

they lost! played well. had to go into overtime and finally in to penalty-shootout. it started good. the goalkeeper held the first shot and then they didn't score any penalty at all!!!!
so sad. the whole country was in a football euphoria and now it's over.

Mood: still bright, Music: still none

Fasnacht 2006 is over....

...since more than a week. unfortunately the weather was not really on our side though.

saturday it started snowing and didn't stop until sunday morning. i really do like snow,
but this was a bit too much. since we rarely get any snow anymore, they are just not
capable to keep up with a little bit more snow than usual.

people were stuck on the highway. 4 hours for 25 kilometres. so all the hotels booked out.
they opened a civil shelter  for all the stranded tourists from germany, holland, poland and
where  they all came from.

on sunday morning it looked like this:



i shoveled snow for an hour.

sunday our parade would have been. but they cancelled it. we went anyway.

but we couldn't take our trailer we built because it was too wide. to much snow
on the side of the road.



then we had to build a smaller one. 




At least we had a small parade.
