Back in the USA!!!!

Mood: Happy! With much bitching, moaning, and complaining we made it back to Indiana! The great thing is I don't have to get on a plane and go 12 hours again! Nothing much has changed here except they added more on to the prison. I found out that one of the people I went to school with(Big Jock and had everything going his way) is doing a 15 year stretch for forgery and possession of cocaine. A buddy of mine works at the prison saw him and said he looks to be someone's lil bitch. RFLMAO!!! I couldn't stop laughing. As they say you reap what you sow. Now just gotta find a place to live in Virginia!?
15 Days till CONUS!

Mood: OUTSTANDING!!!Back from Thailand! Hot as hell there, but fun times were had by all. Now I have approximately 15 days and I am back in the USA! A sweet new assignment awaits me at Quantico, VA. My last move for the Corps then I retire in 2010 with 22 years served! I can't wait! No more cleaning up after 18-19 year olds who always want to push the limits.
Why can't people obey the rules? Then when they don't, and get caught, they play the poor pity me gag, and beg not to be busted. Most of this gripe deals with underage drinking. I do believe that if you are old enough to serve your country you should be old enough to drink, but my superiors think differently and I most uphold these laws. Besides most of these kids can't hold their liqour anyway and do really stupid shit. Thanks for listening to me bitch!!!
Duty Booty

Mood: Hung over but GoodWell last night was our squadron Mess Night. It's a night where only Marines in a unit, and thier Corpsman, get together for eats, drinks, and camaraderie. A great time was had by all. Certain events take place throughout the evening, and fines are placed on people who have done stupid things since the last mess. Today I am the Squadron Duty Officer and feeling the effects of the evening before.
First thing I did this morning, after I took over the duty, was check my e-mail. I have an e-mail from my monitor(Like a detailer for you sailor's on board here. Ciivilian's, it's the guy who tells me where I'm going next). He tell's me I'm headed to good ole' Beaufort, SC, VMFA-332. I wanted to go to an inspection team or to a reserve squadron, but nooooo. It's right back to a gun squadron for my last 4 years(unless I pick up Master Sergeant). So I'll either be in Iraq or back over here soon. So goes the spoils of rank. Iraq won't be so bad, Tax Free pay, Combat Pay. Bad side: More ribbons and medals to add to the collection(it costs mucho deniero to mount these things), the always ever present IED, mortar, and suicide bomber threat, snipers, and not to mention this will be my 3rd combat tour since I joined in 1987.(Panama, Desert Sheild/Storm) Well atleast I can finally buy a house and settle the kids in one spot till they graduate.
To all who take the time to read this god speed and pray for those who need it

Another Day in the life of a Jarhead

Mood: Confused and frustratedWell Got to work at 0600. Another shop had lost a screw, so Night crew was still here. Now they came to work yesterday at 1400. Simple addition will tell you that is 16 hours! Now for anyone that understands the causes and effects of on the job accidents, knows that anything over 10 hours almost doubles your chance of this happening. Sometimes I wonder what my leadership is thinking. I know they want all mission capable jets, but at the expense of our people? Come on! Any of you who have been in the military kinda understand what I'm trying to say here. We, in Japan anyway, are not in the war. We have the always present threat from North Korea, but Kim Jung Il is really not that stupid. I just get fed up with trying to explain to my Marines the stupidity of others. Others trying to impress others at the expense of others.( Now that was a totally messed up sentence) Hopefully it gets better.
Feeling Good

Mood: AwesomeWell today had it's ups and downs, but got to make a couple of people feel good about themselves. There is no better feeling in the world than hearing someone say "Thank you", "You made me smile", or "You were so much help with that problem". Just wish my junior marines would listen up to this old grouch and use a little common sense. But that's what the call live and learn I guess. Have a great weekend, cuz I'll be working it! God I love the Marine Corps!

DNLSNAKE

Mood: AngeredDoes anyone kno dnlsnake? If you have any info on this puny wannabe feel free to add to this blog. This "guy", and I use the term loosely, is going around harrassing women and pretending to be a Marine. We don't need this kind of jackassery around here! I am working my own circle of friends in the military to get more info on him, but since he is trying to impersonate a military member, I believe this is the time for all of us on here to stand up and crucify what could be a terrorist in the making.
