
Numbers don’t usually cause me problems, I have a calculator you know, however this number is being problematic! See, this is the number it’s going to cost to make my car road legal, the problem is, I simply don’t have it. Ever since I took steps a few months ago to try and sort out my financial nightmare mess, I seem to be poorer than ever, does that seem right to you?! I guess it probably is, but ye gods it’s being tricky! I am constantly finding myself with enough money to do exactly nothing, even buying food has had it dodgy and uncomfortable moments, least pot noodles are cheap! There just seems to be no end in sight at the moment and it’s a pretty dark tunnel, but I guess it would be at this end.
Over the weekend both my brothers came down and the full family of 5 went out to see fireworks at Newbury racecourse, it’s been while since all 5 of us did something together, also been even longer since I have seen a fireworks display and it was most impressive. Afterwards myself and Ben went and joined a load of others down the pub for a few swift pints, all in all a nice evening.

So, been a while since I updated, simple truth is I don’t seem to be doing much these days, so why update with nothing?!
The last few days have been quite interesting though, well to me anyway...
See Saturday the 27th Oct there was a total power down at the office, everything was being shut down. I had to get into work an hour early to assist, yes, starting work at 6am on a Saturday morning, I wasn’t too thrilled! I had an early night Friday and got to work at 1 minute past 6. Already things weren’t going to well, an operating system that uses the network to talk to members of it’s cluster was moaning about the lack of network, this made if difficult to shut down. After a while everything was happy / shutdown and then the power went off. It was actually a little eerie in the office with no noise or lights whatsoever. I stayed for another hour and a half as I had to wait for a courier then I went home for a bit as there was nothing for me to do.
I was going to nip along and watch a wedding, but as I was getting ready I got a call that told me the power was back, 3 and a half hours early! Most annoying, so I changed again and headed back.
We started to plug things in and then *BANG!* bright lights, I felt suddenly quite warm, sparks all sorts, I was basically blown up. Most displeasing. That box needed repairs… A few more later and as I was plugging something in I got electrocuted, this actually hurt! It was like being punched in the arm by a very large bloke and my fingers all got pins and needles on my right hand. Also fairly displeasing. We plugged the ret in without incident. I decided to go for a smoke. During this time I decided to call Claire and moan about my day, her response wasn’t exactly what I was expecting and she landed me with the “lets be friends” talk. …can’t day that was too pleasing either.
I went back into work and set about finishing up a few things, I had a fight on my hands with some servers, but got them up in the end, then magic hour hit and I went home. I called Claire again before my dinner, just to finish our conversation and yeah, I guess that’s all over and done with now then. I went to the pub that night and enjoyed a few well deserved beers after a bad day.
Sunday was more of the same, just basically spending the full 12 hours bringing servers up and escorting engineers around to help fix things that had gone pop! Sunday evening I watched top gear with my parents before heading home, it’s week off time.
I decided to cash in some vouchers I had for the local fancy gym. I’ve not been to the gym in over 4 years, so I was eager to see how much damage was done in this time.
God my god.
I did a tour of the gym weights and things and then went for a swim. I planned to do just 10 laps of the pool, but ended up doing 18 (thank you hot girl in bikini) I got home and I was literally like jelly on a plate, everything was quivering!
This morning I ache. I ache a lot, I ache everywhere, I ache in places I had forgotten could ache!
The problem is that the gym pass is a 5 day pass, so if I don’t go in today, I waste, so in a little while am I heading back into it, as I intend too each day this week.
It’s going to kill me! It’s a really nice gym though!
So I was lay in bed last night, it was officially time to kip. I had watched a movie and set my alarm for 5.30am. So I lay there. Nothing. After a while I checked the time, 12.07. So back I went. A while later after being lay around bored, 12.45. A while later, 01:43. Then a bit later after still nothing but boredom 2:07. It was incredibly frustrating, I was lay there actually getting annoyed with myself for not falling asleep! I counted sheep and all sorts, a very dull evening. I really hate it when that happens.
My weekend was ok though as a whole. I went out Friday night for a few beers with Sarah and Matt. Chris and Erika popped along as did Chirg and a fella who’s name currently escapes me, I even stayed within my £20 limit for the evening, getting in 6 bottles of

Well I got through my night shifts and the weekend, but not as much fun as I had hoped it would be, I had it all planned out, I would finish my nights Friday morning, stay up a little while, keep myself busy doing washing or something, then nip into town and pickup Halo 3 for my trusty Xbox. Not exactly how it went.
About half way through my nights I developed somewhat of a stomach ache. This caused a few uncomfortable IBS moments, the side splitting pain and all that, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Friday morning I was dying. By the time I got home every muscle in my body ached, I could hardly move my arms or legs and my shoulders were killing me, not to mention I had ear ache, a sore throat and a splitting headache, it was like a flu without the snot! I felt lousy. I spent the entire weekend in bed feeling this way. I did manage to pick up Halo 3 but have hardly touched it, just a few levels and that, must have been some sort of bug.
The funny thing about it all as I was lay in bed, freezing cold yet oddly sweating like I had run a marathon, reminds me, I must change my bedsheets when I get home, I kept having the most bizarre dreams!

Not thrilled about it all, it totally wasted my weekend off work and I missed a couple of good nights out due to it all, didn’t really do anything. I spent most of yesterday being grumpy because of it all.
This week I have 4 day shifts before my last free weekend for a while, hopefully things will go a little smoother, although I am tempted to stay in over the weekend and save some money as things have been grim in mudsville recently!

Wow! Been nearly a month since I updated, I guess time has just moved along quickly. Not been up to a great deal though, been quite poor, I hate having no money, it sucks.
A friend of Claire had a birthday, so there was a couple of parties for that, quite a lot of fun actually.
I have had a few nights out with the boys too, always a laugh and there was a great moment when 3 of us played the final countdown on a table, good times! Went to see Barri in a karate tournament the other day too, he bagged himself a gold medal for his carter. …I think that’s how you spell it anyway, so we were all quite proud.
Myself and Claire have just had a week together and now she is back off to uni and I have myself 4 night shifts in a row to deal with, most poo! We spent a few days in
All in all, good times, but it’s going quickly. Not chuffed that Christmas seems to have arrived in the shops, not good! Can’t afford it this year!
Oh, nearly forgot, just about the funieslt thing I have heard recently. A (slightly hypocondriate) friend of mine told me that Saturday night he was rushed to the hospital with a suspected heart attack... only after all the tests turns out it wasn't quite as serious as first thought! ...he had wind!

Well, that’s another year done and once again I survived!! Just. Although it’s not been without it’s difficult moments, serious need of patience and casualties, it’s been another great year year, it all started early morning Wednesday the 22nd…
Wednesday.
I got up early, showered, finished packing and before I knew it Dave and Terry were at my door. We got driven into Reading for just before 12. We were told doors would open at 2. Just a short 2 hour wait then, not exactly. We got there and there were already quite a few people there, so we basically positioned ourselves near the front and waited. Myself and Dave nipped into town and got some basic supplies, beer, a stereo and batteries and returned, we where then told the wait was going to be until 6pm. Arse! Every now and then it would totally piss it down with rain, soaking us or some idiot would yell out “THERE LETTING PEOPLE IN” Which basically created a crush for the last hour we were standing, wedged, shoulder to shoulder, no where to move, thankfully they let us in just after 3, but that bit was a bloody nightmare! We shuffled in and found ourselves a great little spot, down road Y2, next to the sign and about a 30 second walk from the arena, we were happy, then came setting up. No rain, but you should try putting up a bunch of tents in gale force winds, it wasn’t easy, it took the 3 of us about an hour and a half to put up 5 tents, the whole time we were getting snippy with each other as bit of our tents would blow away and at one point an entire tent came over the top of us, upside down, with some people chasing it, finally, we were done. Thank god! Although I shortly noticed that my tent was facing the wrong way, it was a new tent you see and I had guessed where the door would be, oops! Sod it, I couldn’t be bothered to move it around! We went and exchanged our tickets for wristbands which was quick enough then we sat and had another beer, before I nipped home to see Claire back.
Thursday.
I was woken up early as Claire left, then had another nap, another shower and headed into town to find Ben. Actually found him really easily which was a bit of a surprise, we walked down to the campsite. Kate and Emily had joined us by this point, Ben through his stuff in his tent and I went into mine sorting it all out and making it look nice for a bit. We headed into town for some more supplies/beer (I also bought a hoody and a second pair of shorts) we stopped by the station too and touted my spare ticket for a nice and tidy fee, after we found what we were looking for we headed back. Then it was basically time for drinking and messing around while waiting for people to arrive. During this time for personal reasons Emily left for the weekend. Louise and Nicola arrived and we helped setup there tents into a squished spot, but it was done. Shortly after Andy and Kerry arrived to complete our campsite. Someone from a spot just behind us moved away so we managed to shuffle our tents around giving us more room. I nipped away and got 2 nice big bags of fire wood (carrying them back alone would be something I would regret for a few hours as I couldn’t feel my fingers) then we were sat around the fire drinking up a storm. It was the heaviest drink up of the whole weekend for myself, Ben, Dave, Terry and probably Louise. We met our neighbours, had drinking competitions (yeah, bring it), people got broken, we made new friends and somehow I ended up sitting with a crazy Italian couple with a fruit drink that I am sure would kill if drank for long enough until 7am. Andy went/was pointed to bed shortly before, to be honest memories are a little fuzzy, I went to bed just after 7.
Friday.
Not going to lie, didn’t exactly feel tip top for most of the day. I woke up to find Nicola saying “you going to get up then?” from just beyond my feet, I felt crappy and could still taste the dodgy fruit drink from the night/morning before, not good. Ben also looked a tad peaky. Sarah and Matt joined us shortly after and we sat around chatting and remembering bits of the night before. We headed into the arena at about 14:50 and caught the band AIDEN in the NME tent who were a good start to kick off with, sets the tone for the weekend and they rocked. We headed over to the main stage and watched GOSSIP. We were torn about this one, see we had heard about the Singer (Beth Ditto) and her antics but we had also heard they were good, so we watched, they really put out a good set and it was said that she doesn’t need to be the funny chubby chick who gets her kit off (as she is, she does and it’s not nice to look at) as she can sing and she is very good, we were all impressed. After the gossip we swung back to the NME tent and watched THE ENEMY these guys were also very good and “hey, hey, what’s the matter with your face, face” would be a reoccurring theme for the rest of the weekend. After these guys we headed back to the Main stage to watch MAXIMO PARK. F me these guys were dull. They just kinda wandered through there set and I have to admit, I fell asleep, this planted the seeds for sunburn and made me dozy for the rest of the day. I wish we had gone to see “get cape, wear cape, fly!” if for nothing else other than the really cool band name. After they finished we wandered back to the NME tent to catch ENTER SHIKARI, another good band, a weird mix of rave and metal, I liked it. After this was one of my picks for band of the festival. KINGS OF LEON. I didn’t know a great deal of there stuff. He wasn’t very chatty and infact everytime he looked over the crowd he looked somewhat afraid of it, but these guys totally rocked. An incredibly strong steno messing, really has propelled them into a must start listening to them more category. After this there was a split in the ranks. Most wanted to stay and watch RAZORLIGHT (Who were apparently very boring) myself and Ben headed back to the NME tent to get nice and up front for ASH. Ash are a festival band. They should have been on the main stage instead of Maximo park basically, that is Ash time, but there were headlining the NME. Well we got nice and up front, and basically got the crap knocked out of us. It was fine on the opening song but as soon as “Burn, baby, burn” kicked in the mosh took off, my feet left the ground and didn’t touch it for a good 3 minutes. They played a blinding set and it was a constant fight to avoid thing like getting knocked down (I nearly slipped over to my doom), condoms and boots (one poor kid got smacked right in the face by a boot and it looked frickin painful). They played a great set and I was both sad and happy when it was finished. Sad as they were finished, glad as my back was killing me! We headed back to the campsite to get a fire up and going. During this time we found out that Terry had actually gone home and back as he was having real trouble with his legs and thought a bath might help. We also found Dave in bed, turns out he turned in about half way through razorshite. Dave got up, Ben turned in, we sat around for a little while, then I had to turn in, I was feeling the burns, I wasn’t getting drunk and I had been tired ever since Maximo park put me to sleep.
Saturday.
I woke up quite fresh, well I say fresh in truth I slid out of my sleeping bag basically a pool of over heating sweat! Seriously, I figure I must have lost a few pounds there. Just so hot! I had a babywipe wash and headed out, I was seriously tempted by the manwash by this point (basically a bunch of REALLY hot women scantily clad hose you down and scrub you). During this time some total asshole stole our stereo. Dave had gone to the bog and when he returned bumped into a bloke they did the “hi”/”alright” thing and Dave though “oh, a stereo like ours” turned out it was ours. Frickin ass. We also suffered our second casualty, Terry! His legs were done for and we think he may have had a reaction to the deep heat he put on as his legs were all messed up. We helped him pack away his stuff and put him in his mums car. We sat around and had a few beers and Sarah, Matt and Marc then joined us and Sarah the perpetual pest mocked my slight sunburn for a little bit. Then a few of us headed into the arena and the carling tent to watch KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES another awesome set was played here, these guys seriously can’t be unsigned for too much longer and the tent was overcrowded, spilling way outside it with people having a good sing along to the songs they knew off of myspace! Great stuff. I then headed back to the campsite to eat, poop, drink beer and the like for a little while. We met up again to watch THE PIGEON DETECTIVES. We couldn’t get too close as the NME was packed (there was a serious overcrowding issue this year, they simply let too many people in and it was a chore to move around for most of the time) what I saw and heard of these guys was good. We then moved into the tent and watched DINOSAUR JR who played a textbook set. After them we headed, slowly, over to the main stage to watch the end of BLOC PARTY. I’m honestly either way with these guys. We sat around and then watched ARCADE FIRE who were quite good, nice sound to them and all that, I just didn’t know it. After them we were split again as a few of us stayed to watch the RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS and the others wanted to watch we are scientists and the view (both of which were supposed to be very good). Right… I had seen the chilli’s before a year or so ago and they were great live. I’m just not quite sure what happened this night. They started with a slow funk jam, which was overly quiet (chants of turn it up were heard) then launched into “Can’t stop” but as soon as Kiedis tried to sing it all went a bit pear shaped and the sound cut out. They never really recovered for a band going as long as they had been I would have expected them to have handled the situation better, but they just sort of messed it up. The rest of the set was ok, a number of favourites but the whole time they just weren’t as good as they could have been or can be, I was disappointed. To end the set Kiedis basically walked off and the rest of the band did this 15 minute slow funk jam… yeah, it was as boring as Maximo park was, 1000’s of people just walked off. I was really hoping they would come back with under the bridge or breaking the girl, but no, that was it, just a totally wet ending to a borderline average set. Although on the bright side a nice drunken lass started chatting to me and it turned out we used to work in the same building. Myself and Ben (the only 2 from our group left) headed back to the campsite. It was a mad night. We got a decent fire going and ever though most of our site headed to bed leaving just myself, Ben and Dave we had a cracking night. I had a slightly dodgy moment early on, basically I went to trap 3 of the toilets (my chosen one, it was mostly clean and had a lock, I went in, locked the door, baby wiped the seat, dried it off, dropped my shorts, turned round and looked straight into the eyes of the girl waiting behind, I hadn't locked the door properly, so there I was, hanging out and I had to ask her to excuse me, so I could do my thing and head back to the camp! A bunch of our neighbours joined us. Some girl showed me her arse so she could sit in my chair for a bit and some other girls dropped off a half unconscious drunk chick while they went for a walk as she was unable. Well, this girl could walk and talk. She provided us with hours of entertainment at one point she walked away and turned back up with a bottle of herbel essences shampoo of all the random things! She was also fairly daft “all Chinese are dykes, but they make great food” and her counting to 60 took took minutes and went along the route of “1, 2, 3, 7, 12, 26, 13, 69…” (but it was quite funny)) a slight klepto (kept stealing things, like beers and trying to pinch mates shoes) and a tad dirty (one point she was rolling around on a spot where us males had been peeing most of the night) also her toilet habits were a little scary, she basically dropped just away from us in plain site and let go… and this is just the half of it all, funny girl but woah! I ended up supporting her back to her tent at about 6.30am as some lads were trying to take a bit of an advantage, plus we needed to go to bed and she wasn’t going anywhere! Overall though, it was a bloody good fun night.
Sunday.
Again not exactly feeling my best due to large amounts of alcohol in my system and about 4 hours sleep, but not too bad, although my sunburn was. I had a wicked invisible vest thing going on, bright red shoulders and a patch on my chest and just fairly while everywhere else. My nose was also glowing, for the rest of the day I had to wear my long-sleaved shirt done all the way up (although I had the belly buttons undone so that could catch us for a while) and I also had to wear my hat and sunglasses, although it didn’t help my chin much, giving me a bit of a half face mask type of appearance when I took it off. Ben’s mates Alec and… name I can’t remember turned up and that was the last we saw of them for most of the day. Dave wanted to go see BILLY TALENT so off we headed. I have to admit, not all that impressed. I liked the music, but the singer wasn’t really my thing. After them we watched THE USED who I really enjoyed. After that we headed back to the tents for the eating, drinking and pooping deal, also a good look at the manwash girls usually came into it. I headed back into the arena to watch FALL OUT BOY who I had missed the previous year, played a blinding little set. I them literally walked into Dave and the others while coming back out. Myself and Dave walked back to the tents while LOST PROPHETS was on. There is only really one song of theirs I like and I heard it fine from the tent. We headed back in then for NINE INCH NAILS. Awesome, awesome set. Bit worried as good old Trent seems to have got himself a bit of a “proper” haircut, but such a good set was played, another band of the festival moment right there. After this we got more beer and a bunch of us headed into the pit for THE SMASHING PUMPKINS. We were close. Then Louise grabbed me and said lets go to the front, so we did. This girl uses her elbows! I got whalloped several times for just following her. We go to about 4/5 rows from the front, which was perfect for me as I was taller than everone in front (Seriously, some dwarfs were there) and they started. Even though I was slightly tipsy I soon felt a familiar hand on my sun-crisped shoulder with an “alright boyo” and turned round to find Dave who followed us in. A few songs later Louise had headed back out a little while me and Dave stuck the course, wasn’t hard as we were both much larger than anyone around us, they played a fantastic set, just amazing! They were finished a little while later and we headed to a wall for a quick moment (badly needed a pee) then found the others who had found Ben and his mates and it turns out they must have only been a few feet to the right of us the whole time, but saying it was much rougher there! We headed back to the campsite. It was smoky, massive fires were going off everwhere. Most of us passed out straight away, a few us us tried to stay, but we couldn’t see and our fire wasn’t going so well. Most went to bed, Ben and his mates went for a wander, myself, Dave and Andy had a few more beers, then Dave fell, then Andy, I had a quick wander but couldn’t see shit and my eyes felt like they were bleeding, so I headed to bed shortly afterwards.
Monday.
I woke up to take a piss and it was still smoky, Ben had also left about 4 (only to get dicked around by trains for 5 hours!) I headed back to bed for a bit as it was cold. We all then slowly emerged and the process of packing up started. I always hate this bit. The start and end of each festival is a chore! Slowly but surely we packed away. Actually, truth be told I got Kate to stick my tent in it’s bag as I never can get it right. Then we headed out. Myself and Dave text Gail (as was the plan) to pick us up, but then the battery in my phone went so we jumped a taxi outside straight away (I think we may have stole it actually) and we were both back at my house within 15 minutes. He called Gail who was still in bed, so then his dad offered to come pick him up, we played xbox for a bit, which is difficult when you can hardly move or see, his dad picked him up, I forced myself into the shower, then I had a nap, by nap I mean a good 4 hour sleep. I woke up and had a bath, then another shower, then watched a load of star wars films in bed! Then more sleep!
Tuesday.
Another shower was had and I am now feeling human again. Although I have a lot of aches and really silly and slightly embarrassing tan lines all over, especially my chest and face. I say this every year but this time I mean it, I am going to have to get into better shape for next year! I also nipped into town and bought Bioshock for my xbox with my leftover spending money which should keep me busy for the rest of the week…
Well, I think that’s most of what happened, probably bits missing, but you get the drift!
Am I going next year? Already got my ticket!

Well Claire’s birthday has come and gone, I think she had a good day, well from what she can remember of it. She was SUCH mess at the end of the night, it was bastard funny! During the cab ride home she fell off the seat so many times that it turned out to be safer for me to hold her in place, on the floor, with my foot than to let her try and get back up. …Not so funny Sunday.
My weekend was pretty much all about her birthday, apart from the large section of evening where the boys weren’t allowed, so we just stayed in a pub we much preferred drinking, singing and dancing to some great music we had put on the jukebox.
Reading festival is just about upon us. Myself, Dave and Terry actually have early entry tickets to the campsite, which is going to be handy as getting a good spot this year is going to be difficult, I foresee a very muddy few days ahead of me! Bring it on!

Wow! No, seriously, I mean it, wow! I have never known a week off work go by so fast! It’s just rocketed past! A full 7 days off and it only seems like I have had 2!
Not really been up too much. I had a pretty cool day out with my parents and brother (Ben) which was a good laugh, and I got my birthday present from my parents (a 22” widescreen monitor) which I am chuffed to bits with. The day out was actually good fun and a surprising amount of laughs were had, especially towards the end of the evening when my dad got a touch tipsy.
I had a meal out Saturday night with some friends, that was nice too and Sunday night I managed to talk Claire into going to the cinema so I could see transformers again, I love that flick!
Now next weekend is Claire’s birthday, this has left me with 3 problems, I don’t know what to get her, I am broke so whatever it is isn’t going to be much and I am stuck on nightshifts for the next 4 nights which means going to get whatever it is, is going to be a pain in the backside!
The weekend after that comes

I saw the Simpsons movie on Monday night, I just about laughed my tits off! It’s really quite funny, which is good as I was concerned because, well, let’s face it, when was the last time you saw a funny new Simpsons episode?! The plot isn’t all that, but it really is a very funny movie! …plus I don’t seem to be able to get “spiderpig, spiderpig…” out of my head.
