The Happening...

I'm not one of those assholes to indulge in the plot and spoil the entire movie and/or ending. I'm not even going to say not to go see it if you really want to, but I was really unimpressed.
Although M. Night Shyamalan set a high bar for himself with his previous movies because of his ways to twist plots at the very end, the majority of his movies have been pretty good. Hell, I didn't necessarily favor Lady in the Water, but it also wasn't the worst movie I had ever seen. This just wasn't nearly up to par with his previous work. Plus Mark Whalberg is tolerable in plenty of roles, but I really thought it was a joke for the majority of the movie. Even up until the end and then got bitch slapped into realization with, "That's it?!"
Then again, I've had people tell me a movie was bad and then ultimiately ended up ejoying it, so don't let this change your mind if you were set on seeing it - not that I imagine it would have anyway.

The premise of this movie was absolutely retarded!! And the acting was ok at best...but like you said everyone has their own opinions!!

I don't think you would ruin anything if you gave away the plot, the movie does in about 20 min. I agree, I kept thinking there has to be something else. It hit rock bottom when they tried to out run the wind!

p.s... I was disappointed with Lady in the Water but there was one thing I thought was great: the guy who only worked out one arm. That was hilarious.

I think I'll take your advice and stay away from this one. The movie ad is "Shyamalan's first R rated movie!" The movie must really be struggling if that is the reason to go see it.

His movies always fell apart for me at the proverbial twist. Signs was great until you actually MET the aliens, and all of a sudden water (though our atmosphere is comprised mostly of it) kills them! Whee! I heard this one didn't have that twist, but I guess it traded out for being horrible the whole way through. Fun to watch, though. He wasn't shy with the death.
