Store politics... HAH.

Before you even begin to read this large rant I'm about to post - it's best you have some understanding of retail otherwise this will sound like a different language entirely.
So whenever our DM (District Manager) comes into our store we act like God is visiting. And I don't mean that in a good way. I mean we literally have to clear the floor of skids and "clearance tables" that we're not really allowed to display but hey - whatever will blow it out of the store, right? So for an hour visit from our DM we have spent the entire week cleaning, restocking empty spaces with merchandise that does not belong there to 'make it look full'. Bastardaizing the planograms completely. Tell me now, do you really think these people are that naive? Obviously they didn't get their positions by being morons and having a lack of experience. So why go to these great extents MAKING MORE OF A MESS - when you think about it really.
That was just the beginning of it there, that doesn't even begin to describe our everyday bull shit we do to keep our store's so-called compliance 100%. We have a system called "picking and slotting" which is basically allt he "overstock" you have get's slotted into a shelf with a number and then comes up on the "pick list" (to be put out since the shelf can now hold another item due to it being sold) and we "pick" it out of the system but don't essentially go and physically put it out because the shelves and fixtures are not accessable due to a plugged stock room overflowing with stock. How accurate is that? It's good in theory but in the long run if you don't have the staff or accessability to keep up with it, that's how you lose track of merchandise. All in all the system in a joke because no one keeps up with it, therefore retarded. Nevermind how people just stick shit on the shelves without slotting it.
Secondly, the carelessness in putting out stock. Don't bother to check to see if the item is AR (automatic replenishment) to know that it actually goes in a planogram and not in a flex or promo area. In which case it would show up as BM (buyer managed). And the lack of care that comes from the cashiers to pull any sku up when some UPC doesn't work and then we wonder why we have negative onhands.
I could go on, but I won't. I've had enough. Hope you enjoyed.
Different place to work but same old shit. Take a deep breath.
