I'm no stranger to this site. I used to be here a while ago, but endless, unnecessary drama and bullshit
from other members caused me to ultimately lose interest in this place. I'm only back to try to find those
few people here who seemed like they truly wanted to make friends and not just cause the fighting that
comes from people who probably have nothing better to do with their free time. Know what I'm saying? It's
just immature and pointless, pure and simple.
But hey, that's going to happen anywhere you go on the 'net, right? Shit happens...
Some pointless facts about me...hmmm
Let's see...
----My name's Robert.
----I'm 1/4 Irish, 1/4 German, 1/4 English, 1/8 Scottish, 1/16 Native American and 1/16...well, let's just say a bunch of other nationalites, because I'm really not sure if I'll ever find out what all of them are.
----I have a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Cal State University, Sacramento and I'm going for a Master's in Graphic Design at UC Davis starting this fall.
----I'm single and proud of it. Some girls just seem to want to make life generally miserable for me these days. Telling me they're single when they're not, interested in more than friendship when they're just looking to play games and feeding me crap about my feelings, needs and wants being as important as theirs when in reality, anything they say is gospel and anything I say is crazy talk. Not good. They're living, breathing headaches waiting to happen.
*NOTE: I said SOME girls, not ALL. I've met plenty of nice, sweet girls who say they want nothing but the best for me and then back it up. Well, there's only one reason I'm not with any of them: they're all either married, engaged, divorced and wanting to be single or lesbians. I still keep people like them in my life.*
----I'm a southpaw. Do you know how hard it is to find a good set of golf clubs anymore? It's enough to make a person cry.
----I don't like to fight, but if you push me hard enough and often enough, I will push back. I'm a pacifist, not a doormat to be used for the soothing of someone's fragile ego.
----I've lived in Northern Cali all my life, but I've visited every state in the country except Florida and Alaska and most every country in Europe and Asia.
----I used to be a semi-Trekkie, and now I'm just a casual fan of all sci-fi. (Okay, not Babylon 5. That show's just a little too much like a wannabe Star Trek DS9. JUST MY OPINION, PEOPLE, so don't shoot me. lol)
----I've played pretty much any and every sport known to man. (Note to self: wearing a cup in ice hockey helps! I once went without one during a pickup game. Didn't turn out to be such a good idea.)
----I live in Sacto but spend alot of my time in Reno or San Fran, visiting friends who live there or going to either place with friends from Sac.
----I'm a spelling, punctuation and grammar stickler. Some people call me a freak because I never misspell a word or use the wrong word for the wrong reason. I just think of myself as an aficionado of correct linguistics and those who display it (or at least attempt to).
----My dad was born two days after the very first issue featuring Superman, Action Comics #1, was published and went on sale. Ten points to anyone who can guess the date.
----On the subject of my dad, he's a cousin of Jim Thorpe, who was a three-sport native-American athlete (starring in the NFL for years as a running back) and Olympian back in the early 1900s. He fought, and suffered from, extreme discrimination and racism decades before Jackie Robinson.
----My grandfather was roommates with Marion Morrison at USC. (That's University of Southern Cal, not South Carolina, for those of you living on the east coast or deep south.) Marion and my grandpa were linebackers on the Trojans' football team and landed bit parts as extras in a western shoot-em-up film. That was my ancestor's only taste of the limelight, but Marion went on to make movies his day job as John Wayne. Think I'm lying? I have the yearbook from their senior year with his picture in it as proof, so HA!

One other thing: To those people who've chosen to try to take advantage of me for the benefit of their personal agendas, I say this:
You have tried to knock me down, but you have only proven that my road is higher than yours.
You have tried to beat me up, but you have only proven me to be the stronger one.
You have lied to me, yet you only prove to me the true value of people who practice honesty all the time, every time and not just when it benefits them.
You have betrayed me, yet you only prove me to be proud that I was loyal to you, for it's loyalty that helps define a true friend.
I cannot, nor will not, allow myself to be taken for a fool ever again.
